Imprisoned believers have many views of God
and His Word because they come from diverse religious backgrounds, some
accurate, others are completely erroneous. For a man or woman to stand
true to the Lord, it is important that he or she know how to study the
Bible, be well grounded and able to support his or her beliefs.
Genuine spiritual growth must be based upon sound doctrine. Therefore, a
significant portion of GAP's emphasis and resource allocation goes
toward providing BIPs with Bible study material and courses.
FORMAL BIBLE STUDIES
The local church may wish to consider establishing a scholarship fund
that will enable BIPs to study from a Bible college or school that meets
doctrinal orthodoxy. GAP will help you set up a study program.
Formal studies should only be offered after the BIP has completed the 12
weeks of Daily Quiet Times that the ministry coordinator will provide.
This is necessary to determine if the BIP is sincere and willing to
follow through faithfully with the scholarship.
Money should not be sent directly to the BIP, but attached instead to a
registration form and mailed directly to the school.
GAP Prison Ministry has a good working relationship with Moody Bible
Institute, and recommends their Adult Bible Study Series. Contact us for
